Stomach Or Back Sleepers? Why You Should Always Sleep In This Position!

This is not about preferences but about medical facts you should consider when choosing your sleeping position.

We all have different preferences and positions when sleeping and falling asleep. Some can only sleep lying on their backs, others are stomach sleepers, and most of us fall asleep best on our sides. But there is also something like a “wrong” sleeping position that can harm your health. The side on which you mainly sleep is significant.

People who like to fall asleep on the right side of the land of dreams should prick up their ears now because sleeping on the right side can hurt your health. We’ll explain exactly why this is the case.

The Heart

In the vast majority of people, the heart is located on the left side of the body. And the aorta, our main artery, is also curved to the left. If you now sleep on the right side, the heart must work harder and pump the blood “up”. So it is much better and gentler to sleep on the left side – it relieves the heart.

The Spleen

The spleen is also located on the left side of our body. She is responsible for the purification of our blood. Waste products may not be broken down as quickly if you sleep on the right side. Therefore, sleeping on the left side supports the transport of the blood to be cleaned.

The Lymphatic System

The lymphatic system is an essential part of our immune system. According to science, it mainly dominates the left side of the body. It transports nutrients and filters “waste” from our bodies. So you can support the evacuation if you sleep on the left side.

The Stomach

As the heart and spleen, the stomach and pancreas are on the left side of our body. And “waste products” and digestive juices must also be transported from there to the intestine. With right-hand sleepers, this has to be done against gravity – left-hand sleepers.

The Oesophagus

Unlike the heart, spleen and stomach, the oesophagus is on the right side. So if you sleep on your right side, you are more likely to suffer from heartburn. This is because the stomach remains can quickly raise the oesophagus. This can be avoided by simply turning onto your left side.

PS Another Tip For Pregnant Women

When the baby has reached a specific size, it puts pressure on organs like the liver and kidneys. You can relieve it by sleeping on your left side. Also, blood can flow “easier” to the uterus when you sleep on your left side.
