Ingredients For Switchel:

  • 1 litre of water
  • 80 ml apple cider vinegar
  • 100 ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • a large root of ginger
  • 1-2 tsp honey (or maple syrup), depending on taste

To Prepare Switchel:

  • Peel and slice ginger.
  • Add the ginger to the water and the other ingredients, then let it steep for at least 20 minutes (preferably overnight).
  • If you like, you can briefly boil the chopped ginger with the water beforehand (about 2 minutes) and then let it steep. The longer the ginger steeps, the more intense and sharper the taste.
  • Pour the ginger and apple cider vinegar mixture through a sieve before drinking.

Tip:

In summer, Switchel tastes best with ice cubes and a few leaves of fresh mint. In winter, the drink can also be enjoyed warm. One thing is sure: nobody will lose weight just by drinking Switchel. A diet always includes a balanced diet and sufficient exercise, as recommended by the Society for Nutrition. However, ginger and apple cider vinegar soda can be drunk to support a long-term change in diet.
