How Do Antioxidants Protect Our Skin?

By its nature and its exposure to all kinds of attacks, the skin is strongly affected by the presence of free radicals. Free radicals are formed naturally in the body as a result of metabolism. They are produced at the level of the mitochondria, a kind of powerhouse of the cell. If their effects are necessary to produce energy, the excesses should be eliminated as much as possible.

Indeed, in too large a quantity free radicals are deleterious: they will disrupt DNA strands, oxidize proteins as well as lipids. The more free radicals there are, the stronger the oxidative stress. The older you get, the more damage that free radicals have done over the years. All of this contributes to ageing, especially the very visible ageing of skin wrinkles.

Why Is The Skin Particularly Affected By Oxidative Stress?

The skin is an organ whose cell renewal is very fast, approximately every 28 days. This accelerated metabolism already naturally leads to high oxidative stress. In addition, let’s not forget that these are the tissues most exposed to ambient air, which is loaded with 20% oxygen.

Although a stratum corneum partially protects the skin, oxygen diffuses deep into the tissues. Other factors participate in the oxidation of the skin: exposure to the sun, stress, but also pollution since radical forms will arise directly on the epidermis. Let us not forget either tobacco: nicotine further increases cell renewal and related substances cause direct toxicity.

Hence The Importance Of Antioxidants

For the health and beauty of the skin, dietary antioxidants are really very important: polyunsaturated oils, vitamins C and E, beta-carotene, minerals and particularly zinc and selenium … and also phytonutrients, c ‘ that is to say, elements present in plants, which, absorbed in the intestine, are transported by the blood to the dermis.

In recent years, we have known a little more about these substances: beyond their direct chemical action on free radicals, they would act at the level of the genome by promoting the synthesis of antioxidant proteins. A capital interest! This is why we recommend instead a very diversified diet based on plants: all kinds of fruits and vegetables, raw or cooked.

Vegetable oils, such as Argan, are interesting because of their richness in fatty acids with long unsaturated chains. While a classic cream often only works on hydration, vegetable oils have a lipid-replenishing and directly protective effect against oxidation.

Vitamin C:

40 times richer in vitamin C than an orange, the concentrated extract of Camu has both tonic and antioxidant activity. Indeed, vitamin C helps reduce fatigue and promotes the protection of cells against oxidative stress. 3 capsules of concentrated extract cover 100% of the daily needs. To be taken in the morning with a large glass of water. Dietary supplement. Box of 30 capsules.

Protective Oil Naturactive Organic Vegetable Oil:

Rich in unsaturated fatty acids and vitamin E, Argan vegetable oil applied daily nourishes the epidermis and helps to strengthen the skin’s natural protection against environmental attacks. 50 ml bottle.

Sun Care & Anti-aging:

Contains copper, zinc and vitamins C and E to promote collagen formation and protect cells against oxidative stress; as well as Camelina oil, known for its richness in omega 3, 6 and 9. To enjoy sunny days while preserving its youthfulness! Take 2 capsules per day with a large glass of water. Dietary supplement*. Box of 60 capsules.
